The Writing Camp for Girls is back! This year, we decided to host the camp in March write before National Poetry Month! We are super excited to be back at Creative Suitland for our 3rd Writing Camp for Girls ages 10-15.
#dotheWRITEthing Writing Camp for Girls is a workshop series carefully crafted by Miss Kiane, a 20+ year social worker, human service practitioner, and healing artist, to give young girls a safe space to emote, create, and grow. We use restorative healing circles to open and close each session, we build on themes of self-worth, confidence, and love, we invite guest teaching artists to bolster our crafts projects and we learn about different forms of creative expression while connecting the dots between writing and emotional WELLness every step of the way. Each session builds on the next so participants should plan to attend each session. This helps the young ladies to get to know each other, encourage consistency, and foster safety.
Registration is now open. If you have or know a young lady who would benefit from this awesome program, register them today!

Last March, a human service provider for recovering addicts attended a woman's empowerment day where the Founder of The InkWELL, Dinahsta Kiane, was presenting on the art and process of transformation and on how we can navigate transformation with our pen. The presentation was so moving that the human service provider immediately knew she wanted her clients to experience what she did that day. Eighteen months later, The InkWELL is providing a series on emotional self-care and bridging the gap between writing and wellness for that service provider's outpatient program, A Better Path Community Outreach Center!
The road to recovery is filled with reflection and self-discovery. The sessions are filled with aha-moments, new information, catharsis, laughter, and even uncomfortable emotions, but the safe space provided by The InkWELL gives room for all of these things to be experienced without fear of judgment or exclusion.
